Vantage and XM are both established CFD brokers popular with beginners, but they differ on regulatory footprint, minimum deposit and platform choice. Here is how they compare. Figures reflect September 2026, and XM’s regulatory status has shifted during the year, so verify current licenses directly with each regulator before depositing.
At a glance
| Vantage | XM | |
|---|---|---|
| Founded | 2009 | 2009 |
| Key regulators | ASIC, FCA, FSCA, CIMA, VFSC | CySEC (confirmed); ASIC/FCA status disputed across 2026 sources |
| Minimum deposit | $50 (Standard/Raw) | $5 (Micro/Standard/Ultra Low) |
| Commission | $3/lot/side on Raw ECN | Commission-free on Standard/Ultra Low; XM Zero adds a per-lot commission |
| Platforms | MT4, MT5, ProTrader (TradingView charting) | MT4, MT5 only |
A regulatory caveat worth flagging

Most 2026 reviews list XM as regulated by CySEC, ASIC, DFSA, FSCA and CMA. However, at least one review dated mid-2026 reports that XM no longer holds an ASIC license and no longer accepts UK clients. Sources disagree, which itself is a signal to verify XM’s current licenses directly on the CySEC and ASIC public registers before depositing, rather than relying on any single review, including this one. Vantage’s FCA and ASIC entities are more consistently documented across sources.
Cost and minimum deposit
XM’s $5 minimum deposit is among the lowest of any regulated broker and is commission-free on its core Standard and Ultra Low accounts, with spreads from roughly 0.6-0.8 pips built in. Vantage’s $50 minimum is higher, but its Raw ECN account offers a transparent, itemized commission structure that can work out cheaper for active traders once volume increases.
Platforms: Vantage adds TradingView-style charting
XM offers only MT4 and MT5, with no proprietary charting platform and no cTrader. Vantage adds ProTrader, built around TradingView-style charting, giving it an edge for traders who prefer to work primarily from chart-based analysis rather than MetaTrader’s native charts.
Who each broker suits
- Absolute beginners who want the smallest possible deposit: XM’s $5 minimum
- Traders who want TradingView-style charting: Vantage’s ProTrader
- Traders who prioritize consistently documented Tier-1 regulation: Vantage
- Traders who want a simple, commission-free spread account: XM’s Standard/Ultra Low
Key takeaways
- XM’s $5 minimum deposit is lower than Vantage’s $50, and its core accounts are commission-free.
- XM’s regulatory status is less consistently reported across 2026 sources than Vantage’s; verify directly with regulators.
- Vantage offers TradingView-style charting through ProTrader; XM is limited to MT4 and MT5.
